Hamilton, ON (July 29, 2026) – Today, Minister Fedeli announced an overall $21 million combined investment to support 15 companies as they develop, test, and commercialize next-generation automotive and mobility solutions in Ontario.
Through the Ontario Vehicle Innovation Network’s (OVIN) R&D Partnership Fund, the province is investing nearly $5 million and leveraging an additional $16 million in private-sector partner contributions to accelerate the development and commercialization of made-in-Ontario automotive and mobility technologies.
Together, these investments are aimed at securing the future of the province’s automotive and mobility sector by supporting the development and commercialization of innovative technologies that strengthen Ontario’s supply chain, enhance competitiveness, and create good-paying jobs across the province.
Delivered by the Ontario Centre of Innovation (OCI), these investments bring together Ontario-based small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and industry partners to accelerate the path to market for promising technologies being developed in Ontario, while helping build a stronger, more resilient automotive and mobility supply chain in the province. At a time when global market conditions continue to evolve, strengthening Ontario’s capacity to develop and scale made-in-Ontario solutions will be critical to maintaining the sector’s long-term competitiveness.
By investing in homegrown innovation and leveraging partner contributions, Ontario is helping local companies advance technologies with real commercial potential, from electrification and EV charging to smart infrastructure, logistics, advanced manufacturing, and connected vehicle solutions. These collaborations not only support the growth of Ontario companies but also reinforce the broader automotive and mobility ecosystem by connecting emerging technologies with strategic partners and end users.

Aeroflux (Toronto), working with Alstom, is validating an advanced induction heating system to improve winter rail braking performance for light metro electric vehicles.
AirSuite (Thunder Bay), working with Wisk Air Helicopters, is developing a Ground Management System module within its Cirro software platform for small to medium-sized ground and air operators.
