(Ottawa, ON – November 19, 2025) Today, at the Sweden Canada Innovation Days, the Ontario Vehicle Innovation Network (OVIN), led by the Ontario Centre of Innovation (OCI), and the Swedish Energy Agency launched a new partnership that will bridge Ontario and Sweden’s EV and battery markets. Driven by a shared commitment to lead the global EV transition, this partnership will build pathways for Ontario companies to enter Sweden and build an integrated, cross-border EV supply chain.
“Ontario is pioneering the global shift to electrification, powered by homegrown EV, battery, and charging technologies, companies, and talent,” said Raed Kadri, Head of OVIN at OCI. “By combining these strengths with Sweden through this partnership between OVIN and the Swedish Energy Agency, we are building a launchpad for Ontario-made solutions to scale into new markets and lead the charge towards a prosperous, all-electric future.”
As Ontario and Canada continue to strengthen ties with Sweden, this partnership will play a key role in enhancing cross-border cooperation and supporting the development of sustainable battery value chains. With OVIN and the Swedish Energy Agency at the helm, this partnership will foster the growth of new EV and battery technologies and accelerate their entry into global markets, catalyzing long-term economic gains for Ontario and Sweden.
“This collaboration opens new doors for companies in Sweden and Ontario to share expertise and create joint solutions,” said Niclas Carlsson, Head of International Market Development and Investment. “It is an important step towards building competitive EV and battery technologies for international markets.”
Under this partnership, OVIN and the Swedish Energy Agency will explore opportunities for collaboration between Ontario and Swedish companies in the field of electrification. These connections will facilitate new, strategic relationships and joint activities, leading to market expansion. For Ontario companies, this partnership will pave the way for integrating their EV and battery technologies into global supply chains.
“Through the Ontario Vehicle Innovation Network (OVIN), the Ontario Centre of Innovation (OCI) is helping Ontario companies scale globally,” said Claudia Krywiak, President and CEO, OCI. “Our partnership with the Swedish Energy Agency strengthens Ontario’s leadership in EV and battery innovation and drives the global shift toward a cleaner, more connected economy.”
As a first step, OVIN supported the Sweden Canada InnoMatch Program organized by the Research Institutes of Sweden (RISE), bringing together Ontario and Swedish companies for connection and collaboration. Over the next year, OVIN and the Swedish Energy Agency will build on this growing partnership, supporting efforts to increase trade and enhance cooperation between Ontario and Sweden amidst a rapidly evolving global economy.
